Biography
Dr. Abdelghani completed his master and doctorate at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He then joined Tulane/ department of Global Environmental Health Sciences as a faculty member and he served as the department chair from 1999-2005 and director of Tulane university school of Public Health and Tropical Medicine Laboratories for 22 years. He has implemented and /or participated in many projects addressing environmental health problems in the United States and other countries. He was closely involved in the after math of Hurricane Katrina (2005) as well as the recent Gulf of Mexico oil Spill. One of the courses Dr. Abdelghani teaches is on Environmental Sampling and Monitoring following Disasters
Research Interest
Dr. Abdelghani’s current teaching, research and field work focus on global Environmental Health issues with interest in developing countries. These issues include , water quality and quantity, clean air, food safety, management of municipal and hazardous waste, exposure to toxic and hazardous substances with emphasis on the impact on aquatic organisms , control of vectors of health importance, and solid and liquid waste disposal.
