Biography
Jara Pérez-Jiménez holds a PhD in Food Science and Technology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2007), after developing her PhD studies at the Department of Metabolism and Nutrition of the Institute of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN-CSIC), in Madrid. She later developed her activities at the Department of Nutrition of the Complutense University of Madrid; the Unit of Human Nutrition, INRA (Institute National de la Recherché Agronomique) in France; the Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia, IQAC-CSIC, in Barcelona; and she rejoined ICTAN-CSIC in 2012. Her research activity has focused on the study of different food bioactive compounds, especially polyphenols, through a multidisciplinary approach-analysis of content in foods, studies in animal models, clinical trials, observational studies and new on-line tools(www.phenol-explorer.eu). Overall, this has given place to 46papers published in international scientific journals(> 1,600 citations, h-index 21), as well as to more than 50works presented in scientific meetings and invited conferences in different universities (University of Glasgow, Complutense University of Madrid, Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, etc.). She is a member of the Editorial Board of Food Research International, where she recently coedited a special issue, as well as Academic Editor of PeerJ. Finally, she was selected as one of the 100 researchers aged less than 35 years attending to Cantabria Campus Nobel(2012), a meeting between young researchers and Nobel prizes, as well as one of the 10 European Researchers attending to the 3rdedition of European Nutrition Leadership Platform-Advanced Seminar (2014), organized by European universities and food companies
